Culturally Diverse |
Black, Hispanic, and Native American students are underrepresented in gifted education programs, which limits access and opportunity. |

ELL |
Like the special population above, English language learners are largely the most underrepresented population in gifted education programs. Students may be from diverse backgrounds, but gifted ELLs may acquire a second language quickly, show strong ability in math and creativity, and navigate appropriate behaviors within both cultures. |

Gifted Females |
Gifted females are often faced with gender bias, self-esteem issues, and other debilitating stereotypes. While the gender gap is slowly closing, barriers to gifted education still exist. |

Gifted Males |
Gifted males are often held to high expectations and see themselves as achievers, but also experience unique challenges and stereotypes, like gifted girls. |

|
Highly and Very Young Gifted |
A highly and/ or very young gifted student shows exceptionality early on. These students often show ability beyond even their gifted peers. |

|
Twice Exceptional |
A twice-exceptional student is one who requires special education services for a learning disability and also shows gifted abilities, often identified as GT/LD. |
